Michael Phillips is one of the best baristas in Chicago and hones his skills at his day job at the best coffee roaster in Chicago, Intelligentsia Coffee. We have been lucky enough to shoot for Intelligentsia and have met Mike and witnessed what he can do first hand with espresso and steamed milk. Two days ago at the World Barista Competition, which was held on American soil this year in Atlanta, Mike took third place. Listen to his interview here on NPR’s Morning Edition. I took this pic of him which was in the program for the National Competition which he won a couple of weeks ago. It’s an image not of coffee or latte art but about Mike and his dedication and commitment to becoming the world’s best barista. The very machine in the picture is where Mike trains at the Intelligentsia HQ here in Chicago. Also check out Intelligentsia’s new website, which we have done a ton of photos for. It looks awesome.
