Keelie + Eric | Asheville, NC Wedding

This wedding felt like “going home” in more ways than one. With the setting being just outside of beautiful Asheville, NC, the Appalachian mountains brought back memories of growing up in Southwestern Virginia just one hundred miles away. My family still lives in the area so we get to visit a few times a year but it had been a while since I had seen the mountains in the Fall. It’s such a wonderful sight. The color of the leaves is brilliant.

Besides all of that, the lovely bride and I go all the way back to middle school. She was the kind of girlfriend that you feel lucky to have had because she turned all of the terrifying and embarrassing moments of junior high into funny stories. She has the greatest sense of humor and an incredible perspective on life. Keelie and Eric live in Austin, TX. Over the last three years, Eric has been her rock and a much needed support as Keelie lost both of her beloved parents to colon cancer. As sleepover buddies in junior high, I once spent lots of time around both of her parents so the news came with lots of sadness and heartache. With her mom’s passing only 5 weeks before their wedding, Keelie and Eric made some changes and moved their wedding from Austin to Asheville, pushed back the date a week, lowered the guest count and created one of the most beautiful ceremonies I have yet to witness. Keelie wanted nothing more than to wake up on the morning of her wedding day, nestled in the beautiful mountains with only her closest friends and family. The entire weekend was an adventure and felt like an absolutely perfect way to celebrate their love. There were campfires, day hikes, basketball games and a killer dance party. All 20 of us stayed in one big house, crashing on couches and pull out beds. The air was full of love and it was truly an honor to get to be there. There is no doubt in my mind that these two were meant for each other. Even through life’s toughest challenges, their love for one another continues to grow deeper and deeper.
