Engage!10 | Cayman Islands

Last week Matt and I attended a luxury wedding business summit in the Cayman Islands called Engage!10. We came home feeling inspired and renewed. We firmly believe that in order to continue growing as artists and as entrepreneurs, it is important that we take time to surround ourselves and learn from the people in our industry who have already successfully paved their own way.

Some of the conversations we shared with other attendees left us dreaming bigger than we ever have before. Without big goals and dreams, we will never be able to fully grow into the person that we are called to be. We also feel that while working with your spouse is great, it is an even bigger challenge to constantly make sure we are growing together and always open to respecting each other’s perspectives.

Taking time to travel and attend a conference like Engage is a great way for us to feel challenged and refreshed. Thank you to everyone who made our experience unforgettable. We’ll let the photos below tell the rest of the story!

Wish Upon A Wedding Chicago | a film by: I Do Films

Last night Matt and I participated in a launch party for a brand new non-profit organization called Wish Upon A Wedding. We feel so compelled to get the word out about the purpose of this organization that I just had to post this video by I Do Films. We are fortunate to work in an industry that isn’t “dog eat dog.” Everyone we know is eager to help others and donate their time and talent for the greater good and this organization has opened up an opportunity for us to all come together and do just that. Wish Upon A Wedding was formed just this year as the first ever “wedding wish granting” association. There are many couples who face the reality of being diagnosed with a terminal illness. In this critical moment, there is no energy and often times no financial resources to plan the wedding they’ve always dreamed of. This is where Wish Upon A Wedding steps in. Hundreds and thousands of wedding industry professionals are signing up all across the country to donate their services to these couples in hopes that their wedding wish would be granted. It is an honor to have the opportunity right here in our own city to be a part of something so special. Ali Phillips, of Engaging Events by Ali, has done a remarkable job of stepping up as President of the Chicago Chapter. She is passionate, ambitious and has no problem rallying the whole Chicago wedding industry to step up and take part. For now, you can watch this video by I Do Films of Chicago’s very first Wish Upon A Wedding Couple, Beth and Nick. They are precious and as always Matt and Lori of I Do Films did a wonderful job of documenting. Matt and I couldn’t help but hug each other tight last night after watching it for the first time at the launch party. Beth and Nick will be getting married next month so be sure to look for their wedding photos which will be taken by Gerber + Scarpelli.

Wedding Trends 2010 | A Perfect Event & Vanille Patisserie | Chicago, IL

This past weekend Avery House partnered with A Perfect Event and Vanille Patisserie in hosting a “Wedding Trends, Tips and Treats” Event sponsored by CS Brides to showcase some of the most popular trends in weddings for this coming year. We had a great time meeting lots brides and we can’t say enough about Debi Lilly, Chief Eventuer at A Perfect Event, and all of her fabulous design ideas. We have had the pleasure of working with her on both local and destination weddings for five years now and she never ceases to produce some of the most stunning events we have seen. The collages below are just a few of the wonderful things that were featured at the party. My personal favorite is the yellow, white and grey palette!

One of our favorite services and a recent photography trend that we offer our clients is the “photo booth.” It is such a great way for guests to get involved at the reception. At our event on Sunday, Debi helped take the idea one step further to create a photo/sketch drawing souvenir for the guests to take home with them. The photos you see here were actually taken with a cool iphone app called Epson iPrint. Debi’s husband helped us out on this one. Mike Rowe from Write by Mike did an incredible job at making the cute little sketch drawings to compliment the photos which you can see below. We think this is a fantastic way to add some extra fun to any party and gives your guests something that they are excited to take away. Check out his beautiful calligraphy work here.
